Technical notes
Why
“Let an admin add a new field without a developer touching the schema” comes up often. This control is a clean, reusable reference implementation instead of rebuilding it on every project.
How it works
Fields are defined in two configuration tables (Category and Category Field). Entered values are stored as a single versioned JSON blob on a bound text column. The repo ships the source, ready-to-import solutions and a demo app.
Design decisions
- Stable field key (
jts_fieldkey, autonumber): renaming a field’s label never loses saved data. - Options stored as
id=label: the id is saved, so fixing a label never invalidates history. - Schema-agnostic: every table and column name is an overridable input property, no recompiling needed.
- Configurable column count using CSS grid.
